Stolen-Trafugata
oil on canvans – 90×90 cm – 2008
“Stolen” is inspired by the Nativity of Caravaggio, the painting was made by me in Sicily (Italy) in 2008. It was created for a series of exhibitions organized in various cities of the island: “E ‘qui la Nativita’ stolen by Caravaggio? “. Events organized to stimulate public opinion on the theft of works of art, in particular on this magnificent canvas by Michelangelo Merisi, stolen in Palermo in 1969 … never found.
The canvas of my painting was voluntarily removed from the frame and rolled up on itself, to simulate the theft of the work.
